Anthony Johnson, 31, of Bridgeport, was standing at 140 East Avenue in Bridgeport when he was struck by a black Lexus around 12:45 a.m. Friday, said Av Harris, spokesman for the Bridgeport Police Department.
After being hit, the car carried Johnson a short distance and before he was dropped on the roadway, Harris said.
The driver of the Lexus stopped and immediately called 911.
Johnson is listed in grave condition with a fractured right hip and severe facial trauma at Bridgeport Hospital, Harris said.
A field sobriety was conducted by patrol officers where the motorist did not fail. The motorist is cooperating fully with police.
The accident reconstruction team responded and took control of the investigation.
